The BJP Government promises to enact a law on Minimum Support Price (MSP):-Kumari Selja
Grant martyr status to the 714 farmers who lost their lives during the farmers' agitation, take care of the affected families, government Selja
 Chandigarh 21st, November

The General Secretary of the All India Congress Committee, former Union Minister, member of the Congress Working Committee, and former President of Haryana Congress, Kumari Selja, said that the central BJP government should prioritize working towards fulfilling its promise of making laws on MSP as soon as possible. Selja said that two years have passed since the cancellation of the three black agricultural laws, but not holding a single meeting of the MSP committee during this time is enough evidence to illustrate the character and wrongdoings of the BJP and central government. She said that during the agitation, 714 farmers lost their lives, and the central government should declare them martyrs and take steps for the welfare of their families.

In a statement released to the media, Kumari Selja said that under pressure from the country's capitalists, the BJP-led central government conspired to forcibly impose three black agricultural laws on the farmers. The repercussions were borne not only by the farmers but also by the common people of the country. When the farmers began protesting against these agricultural laws, they were labelled as terrorists and traitors. It was the result of the farmers' struggle and wisdom that forced the government to relent. Despite continuous sacrifices during this agitation, the movement continued in the right direction. She said that the proof of how deep the conspiracy against these laws was is evident in the fact that 714 farmers lost their lives during the agitation. The promises made by the central government during this time have not been fulfilled to this day. Kumari Selja said that while declaring the 714 farmers martyrs, every member of their families should be provided with government jobs so that they can live their lives properly. The situation regarding MSP remains the same as before. The central government formed a committee on MSP but did not include farmer organizations in it. There has been no meeting of this committee to date. She said that by immediately including farmer organizations in this committee and implementing the formula of C-2+50 on MSP, the income of farmers can be increased. Selja said that the BJP government is working against farmers, labourers, and small traders and is continuously trying to favour a few capitalists. She said that all the FIRs filed against farmers during the agitation should be revoked. Kumari Selja said that the families of many farmers who lost their lives during the agitation are facing extremely difficult situations. They are struggling even for their basic needs. In such a scenario, the central government should immediately take steps to address their concerns while showing their empathy.
